Description

Donae'o is a singer, songwriter and producer of Funky House music in the UK. Born Ian Greenidge, Donae’o grew up in North West London and the literal translation of his stage name is “Gift from God”.[1]

As a teenager, Donae’o released several underground tracks and featured on the remix of The Streets’ hit “Fit But You Know It”, with Tinchy Stryder, Kano and Lady Sovereign, which was included on the 2005 Run The Road Vol. 1 compilation.[2]

In 2009 he had a string of up-tempo hits, starting with “Devil In A Blue Dress”, followed by “African Warrior”, Party Hard” and Watching Her Move”, which was on the BBC 1Xtra B-List in January 2010.

As well as featuring on Lethal Bizzle’s 2009 single “Go Hard”, Donae’o has remixed several well known songs, including “Mama Do” by Pixie Lott, “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland and “Spinning” by Speech Debelle.

Donae’o also released an album in June 2009, entitled “Party Hard”, described as a “well polished and realised debut”.[3]

Noted for his party-starting music, Donae’o himself revealed that he doesn’t keep still for very long, telling RWD Magazine that he has ADHD; “I have actually got ADHD still ... I’m extremely hyperactive to be honest.”[4]

Donae’o has performed at Glastonbury, Radio 1's Big Weekend, the BBC’s Electric Proms, in Aiya Napa and he headlined the I Love UK Funky concert at Wembley Arena in 2009. In the same year, he was nominated for a MOBO Award for Best UK Act.

He is also a personal friend of Professional boxer James DeGale, and accompanied him to the ring for his fight with Matthew Barr on 13th Feb 2010, with a customised version of his song Party HardDonae'o is a singer, songwriter and producer of Funky House music in the UK.
