Mi Confesion

Gotan Project

Gotan Project
Ten inch vinyl pressing. In the song "Mi Confesion", The suburban ghetto beats of modern day Buenos Aires meet traditional old school tango values. Crackly old 78's and Bandoneon styles favored as backing for the Tango legends of the 40's Golden Agen pave the way for a new sound. Breakbeats, simple in form, booming electro subsonics and lyrical flow courtesy of local emcees; Koxmoz - a.k.a. Apolo Novax and Chili Parker, lay the next blueprint. Now Gotan Project send a bridge from the suburbs of Buenos Aires to the Favelas of Rio de Janeiro with Edu K (Popozuda Rock'n Roll) and Sandrinho. Wild Baile Tango Funk! Arrabal : Dub skanks and all things rooted fly round-trip from Kingston 10 down to Buenos, up to Barcelona, Paris and then back down South again, all in the space of a few minutes. Haaksman & Haaksman are providing the remix of Arrabal featuring Ras Donovan from Rhythm & Sounds. Buenos Aires, Paris, Kingston, Trinidad, Berlin. That's the global groove! Yabasta. 2006.

After 2 million sales and 400 concerts worldwide, Gotan Project are back with their third studio album, the magnificent “Tango 3.0”.

In 2000 Gotan Project, the trio founded by Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff and Christoph H. Müller released their debut album “La Revancha Del Tango”, a record that brought the sound of Argentina to the world. Their mu`Fesic is now familiar, from the cool and chic clubs of New York to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Second album “Lunático” (2006) saw Gotan Project breathing more live recording and jazz influence into their sound… a sound that has been often imitated, but never equalled.

Tango 3.0 arrives a decade after the group formed, still faithful to its founding principles, but this time featuring a host of exciting guests and collaborators. Dr. John lends the smooth sound of the Hammond B3 to ‘Tango Square’, the work of Argentian author Jules Cortázar is reincarnated through a reading from his novel Rayuela on the track of the same name. Even Victor Hugo Morales, the legendary football commentator, lends his vocals to first single ‘La Gloria’ (paying homage to his famous goal proclamation that sound tracked Marradonna’s infamous 2nd goal against England)
